Paula Masters

Chair Director

Paula Masters joined the CTC board in 2019. She has 40 years' accounting experience in both commercial and not for profit organisations. In her previous position at the CFMEU, she was responsible for the administration of the CFMEU Apprentice Schemes from its establishment and has served as a director with a number of building and construction industry related organisations. These include the Building Employees Redundancy Trust (BERT), Building Employees Welfare Trust (BEWT), Construction Income Protection Limited. Paula is the current chair of the CTC Board.

John Crittall

Director

John Crittall (B. Econ Hons. MBus Admin) completed his full-time employment in 2015 as the Director of Construction Policy at Master Builders QLD, and is also chair and director of a range of different Boards across a number of organizations involved in varying aspects of the building industry. He has over 30 years experience in the building industry and has been directly exposed to the fields of Industrial Relations; Workplace Health and Safety; Legal and Contracts; Apprenticeship and General Training. John was commissioned by the State Government to head up a task force into Workplace Health and Safety in the building industry in 2000 which led to a complete revision and update to the WHS Act. In 2002 he was further commissioned to report on the investigation and prosecution strategies involved in workplace fatalities. He currently sits on the Enforceable Undertaking panel for WHSQ and is directly involved in WHS through his directorships at WorkCover and WHSQ. During some of his time at Master Builders, John was responsible for the running of the MBQ RTO. As the Chair of BIGA Training, John is committed to overseeing the management and training of over 500 apprentices in the trades of carpentry, painting, bricklaying, plastering, and tiling. He has extensive managerial experience and brings a strong background in the building industry and the needs of an RTO.

Geoff Favell

Director

Geoff Favell, Queensland Training Ombudsman, has had over 30 years’ experience in the Queensland public sector with senior roles across employment, industrial relations and training portfolios in metropolitan and regional centers. As Queensland Training Ombudsman, Geoff provides a recognizable and accessible avenue for complaints and advocacy for vocational, education and training (VET) stakeholders to progress disputes and seek advice and assistance relating to the overall conduct of the VET sector in Queensland. Geoff holds a Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management). Geoff is also chair of the Queensland Overseas Foundation.

Brett Schimming

Director

As the CEO of Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ), Brett initiates and leads partnerships with industry, government, employers, unions, educators, trainers, and associations to develop initiatives and programs to grow the skills base and capacity of Queensland’s building and construction industry workforce. As an experienced educator, business leader and policy thinker in this field, Brett is active at both a National and State level in policy discussions and program development addressing skills pathways, existing worker skilling, quality education standards, and an effective VET system. Rather than simply producing students with vocational skills, he focusses on matching the VET system with the skills demand of employers. Brett brought to CSQ extensive experience in the leadership and management of training and education organizations, earned working in a range of industry sectors including RTOs, professional services firms, and other industry bodies. Brett has tertiary qualifications in Education, Business and Public Policy. Brett is a Fellow of both the Australian Institute of Management and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He has held several positions as a Company Director and served on multiple State and National Committees. He was recently appointed to the National ACPET VET Committee.

Peta Perring

Director

Peta Perring is a corporate lawyer with over 20 years’ experience gained in top tier private legal practices and in an in-house legal counsel capacity together with over 15 years as a company secretary and governance practitioner providing company secretarial services and governance advice to boards. Peta also has over 15 years’ experience as a non-executive director for statutory authorities that regulate professions, government and not-for-profit boards. Peta is currently a non-executive Director and Chair primarily involved in varying aspects of the education sector. These board roles draw on her strong legal, governance, strategic planning and risk management skills. Peta has post graduate qualifications in education, law and governance and holds a Masters of Business Administration. Peta is a Fellow Member of both the Governance Institute of Australia and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Peta holds a current practising certificate with the Qld Law Society and is also on the Register of Practitioners at the High Court of Australia. Peta is also a Registered Teacher with the Qld College of Teachers and has a keen interest in the education sector.

Phil Diver, JP (Qual)

Company Secretary

Phil Diver has a background in private equity ventures in Europe and has provided consulting and commissioning advice to government and industry clients in the Middle East, UK, Europe, and Africa. He has a Masters Degree, an MBA from Henley and completed his executive education at Kellogg Business School in the US. Phil has a Diploma in Environmental Sustainability, a Cert IV in Workplace Health & Safety is an Accredited Green Star Professional and a JP. He currently holds an Adjunct Professorship in the Institute of Educational Research at Griffith University and the Faculty of Human Movement Science of the University of Queensland. Phil is a Chartered Manager and has a number of professional qualifications including Australian and UK Fellowships in management and has held a number of Director positions in Australia and abroad.
