It is with sadness that CTC announces the death of our Director Ron Monaghan on Sunday, 30 June 2019. Ron served on our Board since 2016 up until his death on Sunday night. Aged 65, Ron was a union official for over 36 years starting life as an organizer in 1979 in Sydney.
Aside from serving as Branch Secretary of the Miscellaneous Workers Union (now United Voice), he was QCU General Secretary from 2007 to 2015. Ron also served on a number of Boards including BUSSQ, Intrust Super, Workcover, Energex and Sunsuper. In recent years Ron brought his measured approach to governance to the building and construction sector. He was passionate about workers’ rights, training, retention of state assets in public hands and advocating for indigenous communities to recover Stolen Wages.
Our sympathies go out to his family. He will be missed by fellow Directors and the CTC team.
